  personality.     You'd think Nikunja fit the perfect stereotype of a blond, beefy himbo but that's far from the truth. Deeply intelligent, Nik is always on the quest for knowledge. When meeting new people, he's a little shy, mostly keeping to himself while his head is full of experiments he's planning for a later date. His intentions are always good, despite his methods sometimes bordering on something more unethical. He's not against experimenting on himself if it means reaching the next breakthrough.He's overall a gentle soul. Enjoyer of pumpkin, honey, and cinnamon, he's always down for a quiet evening. This isn't to say he takes care of himself all the time. Akin to most Hannish Alchemists, he's not above missing sleep or meals just to wok on an experiment or finish a thesis. If questioned, he's bashful and a little embarrassed, slinking off to his bed or the kitchen with his tail between his legs. He also isn't one for much confrontation, trying to avoid it at all cost. Any argument will probably lost by the large au ra, unless it's something about his work or some kind of theory he's been working on. Even if Nik is in the right, he can't keep his cool and will potentially start crying.This doesn't stop him from having his share of bad traits as well. Nik isn't a bad person on purpose, most of his issues stemming from being busy and forgetting. Sometimes he gets so wrapped up in his work or his latest project he also forgets to keep in touch with friends and occasionally partners. This has led to quite a few break-ups for the au ra, leaving quite a few of his less as passionate colleagues now scorn lovers.All in all, Nikunja is a good person at his core, despite some of the lengths he goes to for knowledge. He believes heavily that 'The Ends Justify The Means', willing to do whatever it takes to reach the next breakthrough. Even if it means putting his own health and safety at risk.

  Nikunja Shah   grew up in the seaside town of Yedlihmad, raised by two fisher parents. He was always abnormally larGe, toweRIng aboveE most of his childhood Friends and adults alike. His parents always wondered if there was something wrong with him medically but they loved their large boy just the same, making sure he got plenty to eat even if money was scarce. He was destined to follow in his families legacy, settling down as a simple fisher for a quiet life till one day his entire viewpoint changed. An alchemist from the Great Work came asking the local fishers for, well, a fish. As fresh as he could get. When asked why he was so insistent, he revealed his desire to use fish scales as a skin graft to heal someone suffering horrible burns. Nik was intrigued and begged his parents to allow him to study.He did well in school, eventually moving to the city to be amongst the rest of the alchemists, flourishing with his colleagues. He took an interest in genetics, fascinated by the way someone's DNA dictates an entire person. He is invited to use the facilities at the Great Work, keeping his work somewhat normal to the public eye. Back in his home in Kama, he set up a small work station with supplies he'd borrowed for things he'd rather not others to see. Bearing a few scars from self experimentation, the most noticeable of all is a few tanks around his room, housing leopard geckos in various shapes and colors.When the Final Days came to Thavnair's colorful shores, Nikunja did his best to hide away from the apocalyptic destruction, helping his fellow researchers when they weren't hiding for their lives. He lost many friends and even his own parents to the destruction, the latter turning into blasphemies. Even when the dust cleared and the sun shined again just like it always did, many Hannish alchemists like himself felt empty. He had nothing to bury of his parents, nothing to really grieve except their old belongings. If only there was a way he could replace them.Finding a way to prevent death was always a popular goal between his colleagues and given his circumstances, Nikunja though the idea seemed even more ideal. He tried finding any sort of DNA like strands of hair to try to rebuild their bodies somehow someway. Surely nothing will go wrong, right? Despite completely unethical, his intentions are good. What better outcome than to bring back your past loved ones? Fearing yet another Final Days (You can never be too comfortable!) Nik has started his own study with the people around him. Using any DNA sample he can find and using them to grow whatever he can in hopes of a breakthrough. Whether this ends in failure, only time will tell.

  Hook one.   Nikunja is like most Hannish Alchemists, a little obsessive with their work. He would bond with other workoholics and other alchemists.
  Hook two.   Nik is interested in meeting people with any kind of genetic conditions to learn about them.
  Hook three.   Nikunja is homoflexible and has been out all of his life. He comes from a supportive home and will bond with other members of the LGBTQ.
  Hook four.   Bustling parties make him a little nervous but nothing a little liquid courage couldn't fix. Still, he's very fond of more quiet outings.
  Hook five.   Do you have hyperfixations? So does he! Ask the right question about his research and you'll be in for the next six hours being all about the weird experiments he's tried to do for answers.
  Hook six.   Nikunja will bond with fellow alchemists, residents of Thavnair, and people who lost others in the Final Days, even if it's trauma bonding.
  Hook seven.   Like most Hannish folk, he enjoys a good cup of chai tea. A quick way to get to know him would be offering to go out for a cup.
  Hook eight.   Nikunja is an older man, fifty two to be exact, and will bond with people around his same age. This doesn't mean younger people are excluded. He'll just wonder why you're spending your time hanging out with an old man like him.
  Hook nine.   Growing up in a family of fishers, Nik enjoys the act of fishing as a fun hobby. While he doesn't get to head out to the docks as much as he'd like, it wouldn't be hard to tempt him away for a few casts.

• Headcanons

  Headcanon   The geckos within his room are actually genetically modified with the DNA of his friends. They are well taken care of even if they are a little strange at times! He's noticed some traits like limps appearing with the lizards that aren't exactly genetic. He's still trying to figure it out.  Headcanon   Nikunja can be a little...odd. If he encounters someone he wishes to collect a sample from, he will be pretty awkward about it.  Headcanon   He enjoys a good Hannish Soap Opera. He's even willing to turn away form his work to transfix on the TV. If you're looking for a quick way to get him to stop working, simply put the channel on and wait. Soon he'll be too interested in the show to look away.  Headcanon   He is moderately religious, a believer in The Sisters. He does have a few figures of them in his home and prays to them to give him strength against whatever trouble he's currently having.

  Headcanon   He carries a little satchel around and will get a little embarrassed if it's called a 'purse'. This allows him to keep his notebooks, pens, and sample collecting supplies all in one place.  Headcanon   Nikunja is a homosexual and very open about it. He has no issue talking about his experiences. He is currently single but has had a few partners in the past. Due to conflicting work views, none of them would stick.  Headcanon   Nik enjoys fishing in his spare time, which is rare, but he enjoys it nonetheless. He's a decent fisher, knowing quite a few techniques shared by the fishers within Yedlihmad.  Headcanon   Sometimes he can be caught talking about how he feels old. He's still very healthy for his age and has literally nothing to complain about. Just like an average old man, this does not stop him from complaining.

  Headcanon   Speaking of health, he may be experiencing some kick backs from his self experimentation. In an attempt to cure his eyesight, he used an extract in carrots.  Headcanon   His spice tolerance is quite high! This is probably due to him being from Thavnair and constantly eating spicy foods. It's not the highest but he can handle it quite well.  Headcanon   Nik is quite large for his size, even being an au ra. You'd think he had some sort of genetic condition but it's not the case. Somehow, some way his DNA combined in a way that positively affected his height. He doesn't seem to have health problems. Yet.  Headcanon   Nik has social anxiety along with just generalized anxiety. This has been made worse due to the trauma of the Final Days and losing his parents and friends. When he's in a large group of people or any public spaces, he can sometimes get overwhelmed.

  Orientation.    Homoflexible - Mostly attracted to men/male identifying people but will occasionally sleep with someone more female identifying if the mood is right. Intersex and nonbinary people are always okay!  Role.   Switch, slight dom lean but getting him to submit is very easy. He does really enjoy both! For his dom side, he leans more on the gentle side but if you can rile him up enough, he can be rough. For his sub side, he's physically incapable of being a brat.   Headcanon   Nik has no gag reflex. He used to have one that was pretty sensitive. This all changed when one of his ex boyfriends shamed him for it, causing him to seek some kind of solution. Nik ended up deadening the reflex in a life changing but very risky experiment. His new skills have caused him to develop an oral fixation! Might as well flaunt what you've got, right?  Headcanon   Both his hair and his tail are an erogenous zone for him! He enjoys having his hair pulled and doing so will start to ease him into a sub space. His tail will do the same thing, specifically at the base. Pull either at your own risk.  Headcanon   Nik is very fond of domming! When he's the dominant one in the relationship, he's gentle and strong. I don't see him as ever being a really hard dom, always leaning on something more soft but I think if someone is bratty enough, he could be a little more firm.  Headcanon   He loves being praised just as much as he loves being degraded. This will put him in a sub space with both having roughly the same effect. A single firm and direct 'good boy' is enough to make him start to spiral. As for degrading, as long as it's followed up with aftercare, Nik is fine with being moderately talked down to and insulted.  Headcanon   Nik has a decent sized toy collection of various...supplies.
